“She’s taught me what it’s really like to persevere,” Lilly's mom says. “She has taught me what it’s like to fight, even when you don’t feel like you can go on any further.” When Lilly came to St. Jude, she couldn't walk, talk or swallow. But now that she's completed treatment, she's back to practicing ballet and appeared in her spring recital.

When Mary Browder was a St. Jude patient four years ago, her outdoor activities were limited. But she could hit a golf ball, and learned she could do it well. Mary Browder focused on her short game of chipping and putting, limited by the PICC line in her arm. After treatment, she could get back to hitting a full swing. “That snowballed into this and being where I am today,” she said. Mary Browder recently took third place in her regional high school golf tournament and this month played with her team to take seventh place in the state.

St. Jude patient Dakota had some fun with his hair before it began to fall out, coloring it in rainbow shades. Inspired, he then designed “crazy cuts” for his dad and his dad’s friend, who agreed to wear them for a month to raise money for St. Jude. Dakota’s designs ended up raising more than $10,000 for the kids of St. Jude.

Hannah wants to be a doctor when she grows up, just the like doctors at St. Jude who have saved her life not once, but twice. Hannah recently received a second haploidentical transplant to combat her chemotherapy-resistant leukemia, and just a few weeks ago, she turned 4 years old.
